Perimenopause & Menopause
Perimenopause and Menopause Support
Specialist dietetic care, clinical assessment and HRT advice in Essex and online.
Changes in your weight, energy, digestion or strength can leave you wondering what is happening and what you need to do. You are told your body is failing is you and there is no hope - I promise this isn't true!
I’m Florence Rowe, an HCPC-registered specialist women’s health dietitian. Most of the patients I support are navigating perimenopause, menopause or life after menopause.
I bring together your symptoms, medical history, eating patterns and relevant test results to help you understand what needs attention and develop a practical plan.
For medical menopause assessment and HRT prescribing, appointments are also available with Amy, our menopause specialist nurse and independent prescriber.
Does this sound familiar?
- Your weight or waist measurement has increased, despite your usual efforts.
- You feel tired and want to understand whether your eating patterns or nutritional status could be contributing.
- Bloating, constipation or IBS symptoms are affecting everyday life.
- You want to maintain muscle, strength and fitness.
- Your blood pressure, cholesterol or blood sugar results have risen.
- You’re concerned about bone health, osteopenia or osteoporosis.
- You’re taking HRT but still need support with weight, nutrition or digestive symptoms.
- You’re overwhelmed by conflicting advice and unsure which supplements are worth (if any!) are taking.
We’ll identify your priorities and agree where to start, with manageable changes that fit your life.
How I can help
Weight and body-composition changes
If weight loss is your goal, we’ll develop a realistic approach that considers your appetite, activity, sleep, health and usual eating patterns.
We’ll look at your energy and protein needs, how to make meals satisfying and the habits that influence your progress. Protecting muscle and maintaining strength are part of the plan.
Energy and everyday eating
When you’re tired or sleeping poorly, even deciding what to eat can feel difficult.
We’ll build practical meal routines, easy food options and strategies for the times you struggle most. Blood test results can inform your care, and I’ll highlight concerns that may need further assessment by your GP.
Gut health and digestive symptoms
If bloating, constipation, diarrhoea or IBS are affecting you, we’ll assess your symptoms and eating patterns before making targeted changes.
The aim is to improve digestive comfort while keeping your diet as varied and enjoyable as possible.
Muscle, bone and long-term health
Your care can include nutrition strategies to support muscle and bone health, alongside advice relevant to cholesterol, blood glucose and cardiovascular health.
If you have osteopenia, osteoporosis, a thyroid condition or another medical diagnosis, your plan will take this into account and sit alongside your medical care.
Supplements and blood results
We’ll review the supplements you take, whether they serve a useful purpose and whether they are appropriate alongside any medication (you'd be surprised how many interact with each other!).
Further testing is discussed when there is a clinical reason, rather than recommended routinely.
Three months of support to make changes sustainable
Knowing what to do is one part of the process. Putting it into practice and keeping going when life gets difficult is where ongoing support helps.
I usually recommend working together over three months. This gives us time to introduce changes gradually, review how you’re feeling and adjust your plan around your needs and everyday life.
Our appointments also make space for the emotional and psychological aspects of eating. Changes in weight and body shape during menopause can affect confidence, bring back previous difficulties with food or make existing concerns feel more intense.
Drawing on my training in motivational and behaviour-change approaches, alongside experience supporting people with eating disorders, I help you explore what feels difficult and develop practical ways forward.
We’ll work towards your health goals while supporting a more comfortable relationship with food and your body. Where specialist psychological or eating-disorder care is needed, I can help coordinate appropriate support alongside our work.
Menopause assessment and HRT support with Amy
If you would like to discuss HRT, need a medical menopause assessment or want a review of your current treatment, Amy offers specialist menopause and prescribing care.
Her consultations include a review of your symptoms and medical history, discussion of treatment options and prescribing where appropriate.
You can work with either of us or both, depending on your needs. Appointments and fees are separate.
You don’t need to decide who to see before getting in touch. We can help you work that out during your introductory call.
what clients are saying
I first met Florence about 5 months ago when I was in a desperate place health wise due to crippling migraines and out of control menopause symptoms. Long story short she has revolutionised my life by introducing me to which foods would benefit my body and which to avoid. 5 months later and my migraines are in check and my menopause symptoms have subsided and I can once again function and live my life. Florence is the kindest caring health professional you could ever meet. Don’t hesitate to book in if you feel down and out. You WILL feel better !
I couldn't have been more pleased with my appointment with Florence! She is friendly, and professional, knows her stuff inside out and I think really importantly, takes time to listen to your concerns. She genuinely cares and wants you to feel better in a way that feels more than work, its her passion. I feel really supported and wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to everyone!!

I was recommended Florrie through a friend and it’s honestly been the best decision and investment I have made for my health. The blood test results came back so quickly and Florrie took the time to explain each result to me and the implications this had on my health, even the good results! Which is something that really helped me understand my overall health concerns at the moment. We went through several other tests that painted the whole picture of why I am feeling so drained and tired all the time and from this formulated a specific plan of what I can do now do to help myself and finally feel better in my own body! I feel so empowered to take charge of my life and health again and it’s all thanks to the knowledge and guidance from the team at Parvati Health. So grateful, would highly recommend!

I reached out to Florrie because I’d got to that stage in my life where no matter how much I exercised or whatever changes I was making to my lifestyle food wise, I couldn’t shift the 4-5kgs that have been bugging me for a very long time. I knew what to do, or thought I did…..
Over the course of 7 weeks without curtailing my social life (yes, I continued to go out and have alcohol) we achieved the weight loss I couldn’t, well over a year. Florrie always said it’s not just about the number and in the grand scheme of everything it isn’t - it’s about forming and maintaining new habits - so I hope I do all the work justice because the number does mean something to me.
